Argus Filch is the caretaker of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter series. He is a Squib, meaning he was born into a wizarding family but lacks magical abilities of his own. This often leads to frustration and bitterness, which he frequently directs towards the students.

Filch's first appearance is in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, where he is portrayed as a stern and unpleasant figure, patrolling the corridors with his cat, Mrs. Norris, always eager to catch students breaking the rules. He is particularly antagonistic toward Harry Potter and his friends.
